Taking an exam:
The gateway to your new professional credentials

We develop and administer a wide range of professional exams which are designed and developed using IFOL’s own quality standard framework. Our exams a reviewed annually and kept up to date and inline with changing industry regulations and compliance requirements. The purpose of each exam is to provide a deep test of a participant’s knowledge and understanding in the field which they have chosen to become certified. With a minimum required mark to pass the exam, we are setting a standard of competency required to be recognised as a certified professional.

Sitting an exam

All exams are taken online within the purpose build IFOL Certification Academy, the same platform used for accessing course materials and preparing for exams. Scheduling is not required as all exams are available to be taken on-demand at anytime of the day or night. 

Exam scoring

The style of exam questions can vary, but most are multiple choice questions, some which require more than one answer to be selected to earn the points allocated. Overall scores are calculated usually within a few minutes of completing the exam and you will be presented with a score in form of a percentage. The minimum score required to pass an exam with IFOL is 80%. Scoring below this minimum threshold will result in an exam failure and re-test. Each certification enrollment includes two attempts to pass the exam. After this additional fees apply for further re-tests.

Technology and Software Requirements

As exams are taken online within the IFOL Certification Academy, you will not be required to download any software or new applications. You must however have a stable internet connection and take the exam using a PC, Laptop or Tablet which is capable of accessing the internet.

After passing an exam

If you successfully pass an exam you will firstly receive a confirmation email from IFOL’s certificate centre confirming that you have passed the exam and providing you with a digital copy of your official certificate and digital badge. You will also be required to confirm your mailing address to ensure that your official hard copy of the certificate can be safely received. Your certificate will display key details including your full name, the designation achieved and a unique credential number which can be used by prospective employers to confirm your credentials are valid. Furthermore, you will receive your official invitation to become a Certified Full Member of IFOL and maintain your new professional status.
